Vintage Oval Metal Cork Lined Spring Tension Embroidery Hoop & Sewing Thread

Vintage Sewing Thread & Oval Metal Cork Lined Spring Tension Embroidery Hoop. Hoop is 4 1/2"x8"   It works fine but is tight.  It has some black marks (photo). I tried to wipe them with a rag but nothing came off. I've always thought these metal hoops keep fabric taut better than wood. The thread is from REVCO, which has been defunct for some time, but I don't see a date on it.  The plastic cover has cracks and 1 spool is missing (photo).
