Landing the gig after Bernie Torme’s 10-day stint with Osbourne’s band, Night Ranger’s Brad Gillis swung the axe for the remainder of the ‘Diary of a Madman’ tour. His tenure didn’t last long, but he provided a sense of stability on the road as Ozzy dealt with the death of Randy Rhoads, which only exacerbated his issues with substance abuse. Gillis’ only contribution to the Ozzy solo catalog came in the form of the curious live album, ‘Speak of the Devil,’ which featured Black Sabbath covers exclusively.
