"This is the real thing, as far as I'm concerned. I mean, I would have no difficulty to play this flute, as it stands, in a recital.  You know, it's just a good flute." -Sir James Galway
Although he is as busy as ever on the International Concert Scene, Sir James says that his passion now lies in music education - and that is the legacy he wants to leave behind.
"I consider myself a crusader. I've spent all these years in the battlefield, so to speak, and now I want to teach these kids how to fight. Music gives you an extra colour in your education, when kids are learning music at school, it gives them their own voice. More importantly than that, it teaches them comradeship, the importance of playing together and pulling together to make moments of great intensive beauty."
    ~Sir James Galway
    Headjoint: Crusader (C1)
Head tube: Sterling silver standard wall (.016)
Lip plate and riser: Proprietary blend of platinum and "Gemeinhardt’s Sterling Silver Plus"
Globally renowned as the supreme interpreter of the classical flute repertoire, Sir James Galway is a consummate performer whose appeal transcends all musical boundaries. With over 30 million recordings sold worldwide, extensive international touring, frequent television appearances, tireless promotion of the arts and his passionate work in music education, Galway has been a household name for decades. His uniquely expressive interpretations of the flute literature span an extensive range of genres, from classical masterworks to high profile commissions, and provide the benchmark standard for all modern flautists. He has also collaborated on film soundtracks such as The Lord of the Rings, and partnered such popular artists as Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Joni Mitchell and Sir Elton John. The diversity of Galway’s repertoire reflects his impressive musical range, and has served to establish him as an artist of the very highest stature.

Gemeinhardt: Where Artistry and Technology Blend.
Kurt Gemeinhardt dedicated himself to creating remarkably responsive instruments with a beautiful tone that would distinguish them from all others. Today, Gemeinhardt continues his legacy by incorporating the craftsmanship of the past with today's sophisticated technology to create flutes that are as artful as they are advanced. An instrument of pride for flutists of all talents and abilities.
As the largest exclusive manufacturer of flutes and piccolos, Gemeinhardt instruments are known and trusted for their acoustic and mechanical excellence, and are the preference of more flutists the world over. A preference you'll understand once you play any one of their remarkable new instruments.
    Professional Features of the 33OSHB
    The 33OSB (
    that's pronounced Thirty-Three-Oh-S-B
) offers the specifications most teachers recommend for a student ready to purchase a pre-professional flute. With open holes, referred to as a French key mechanism, and a B footjoint, the model 33OSB flute has the most popular step-up flute features offered today. The B footjoint creates a longer tube allowing a greater resonance in the flute, as well as providing advancing flutists opportunities to utilize alternate fingerings for greater facility in the upper register.  Open holes provide better tone and the ability for advanced students to learn alternate fingerings, multiphonics, quarter-tones, and other extended techniques used in contemporary, jazz, and avant-garde music. French Pointed Arms is the key style that is found on professional flutes, being stronger and more elegant. The Solid Silver headjoint provides a superior tone and is highly recommended by teachers. Solid silver body and foot tubing improves the tone even more, and allows the headjoint to reach its full potential.  Designed in collaboration with Sir James Galway, the undisputed most-famous flute player alive, the lip plate and riser are made of Gemeinhardt's unique silver alloy, containing some platinum in the alloy to darken the tone.  This professional headjoint alone has a retail price of 00 if it was sold separately!
    Beauty and Elegance
Offset G keys are more ergonomic and comfortable to hold, and are gaining popularity among students and professionals.  This configuration adds strength and durability to the mechanism.  We recommend this off-set G mechanism to everyone!
The French Pointed Arms look fantastic, look very professional, and adds strength to the mechanism.
The elegant French case and leather case cover carries your flute in style and safety.
    French Model Flute:
Also known as an open hole flute, the French model flute has venting holes on the A,G,F,E, and D keys.
    B footjoint:
A footjoint that extends the length of the flute and adds one more key, thus allowing the instrument to reach down to low B-natural below middle C. The B footjoint is a standard choice on many step-up and professional instruments, especially when playing contemporary compositions that utilize an extended range.  It also improves the tone.
    Offset G:
Offset G keys are mounted at a slightly different angle on their own posts. Many flute players consider offset G to be a more comfortable alternative than inline G.  It does not change the sound.
    Gizmo key:
Also known as a high C facilitator. When pressed, this key helps the player produce a clearer C-natural in the fourth octave.
Think you know Gemeinhardt?  Guess again!
    Gemeinhardt has completely reinvented itself.
If you haven't played a brand new Gemeinhardt this year, try one! After a stagnant decade of being owned by investment bankers, Gemeinhardt is back in the hands of
flute experts!  They have completely redesigned their flutes and they are better than ever. The world's most popular brand of flutes once again receives a recommendation from Rich Lupo Flutes and Piccolos.
*Most of the components of a Gemeinhardt flute are made in the USA.  The headjoint, body, footjoint, and keys are
    made in Elkhart, Indiana USA.
The parts are sent to Gemeinhardt's parent company overseas where they are assembled, then sent back to Elkhart for testing and adjustments. Gemeinhardt says they can make the parts better in their own USA shop than anywhere else.  Virtually all other brands do it different, having their parts made in China then shipped to America for assembly.  American-Made parts are stronger and higher quality, and create jobs for Americans!  BooYeah!
    5 year manufacturer warranty.
2 years of free repairs and maintenance from Rich Lupo Flutes and Piccolos.  Even covers accidental damage.
14 day money back return policy.

Rich Lupo Flutes and Piccolos is a flute specialty store, not a giant warehouse with forklifts and conveyor belts.  We only accept the best
flutes from the manufacturer.  We are an Authorized Gemeinhardt Dealer. We hand select our inventory with care and extensively test and set-up each flute before shipping it to our customers. Every flute, even brand new, needs professional testing and set-up.  The final stage of quality control is the dealer.  The manufacturer knows this, and expects it out of their dealers.  You don't want a flute straight from the factory, you want a flute that has been carefully checked over and tweaked for maximum performance by a professional flutist.   We're not some giant warehouse that imports flutes on trucks and ships them out on conveyor belts.  We are a flute shop.  We test and customize each and every flute that goes out our doors, to make sure it is perfect for our customer.  We tweak and refine each flute, making all necessary adjustments, evening the spring tension, oiling, fitting the joints better, tuning, etc.  All to make the factory made flute play and feel like a fine handmade flute.  A few hours of attention makes all the difference!  Now
    that's
    something you
    can
    't do in a warehouse.
    So quiz your dealer.
Find out if they actually know anything about flutes!  Ask them which Bb fingering is their favorite.  Which orchestras have they soloed with?  Where did they study? Would you buy a car from a salesman who didn't even have a driver's license?  Would you even believe a word they said?
