  • Condition: Very nice shape with some faint age soiling. The autograph is beautifully bold and clean with strong blue ink. The program itself is in nice shape. I believe he might have signed something else on top of this program because there's a faint indentation of another signature right along the glass of beer.

    Description

Up for auction is an amazing old program I found at an estate sale on Long Island, autographed by Louis Armstrong on the back of the program on a Schaefer beer ad. The signature is bold and clean. This would look awesome framed. Love the ad and Satchmo's smile. The program itself is for "Mardi Gras," a production at Jones Beach Theatre, presented by Guy Lombardo and starring Armstrong. Other stars in the production were Joel Grey, David Atkinson and Karen Shepard. Also included is a smaller playbill-like program that also features the Armstrong Schaefer ad on the back. The front of the program is autographed by Marty Napoleon, who was a jazz pianist that played with Armstrong. But obviously this is all about the Satchmo signature on the back. The production was in 1966 at the Jones Beach Theatre on Long Island where the program was found.
In nice shape. There's also a faint indentation of another Armstrong signature. I believe he probably signed a piece of paper on top of this program. I tried to get a picture of it; it's hard to see unless you're really looking so it doesn't detract. Cool program
    with a great
    low opening bid
