    Description

Nepali handmade paper is crafted in the traditional way from the bark of Daphne Cannabina, commonly known as LOKTA among Nepalese, an under-storey shrub which grows in the middle mountains of Nepal. Handmade Lokta paper crafting is an ancient art that has remained unchanged for over 2000 years.Handmade Lokta paper is acid free and environmental friendly. It is extremely durable and that is one reason why government offices in Nepal are still using them for all the official documentations.
The beautiful imprints of flower and leaves make the book more attractive. The paper and the cover outside have a very long life.
This paper is made entirely by the local women co-operative Forest community involved in ecological treatment and preservation of forest. This form of paper production is Eco-Friendly as the harvesting of lokta Bark which is the primary ingredient of the process does not effect growth or survival of the tree. It is one of the strongest papers which is not affected by insects or weather. These papers are believed to be used many centuries ago. Documents and texts which are centuries old are still found in Nepal which were written on these papers.
