Description
(Relisted, due to some deadbeat non-paying buyer - the most annoying breed of ebayer!)Antique wooden Böhm flute with metal headjoint, ebonite lip plate, German silver plateau keys (with open G# & reversed thumb keys) and C foot. Manufactured by
Otto Mönnig, Leipzig
. The flute comes with its original case. The hand crutch is missing though - but it's not really needed, since the flute is being so well balanced.
Serial number: I can't find any. Year of manufacture:
Between 1891 and 1907
. Pitch:
Diapason normal
(435 Hz)
The stamp shows
"W.S. / a regal crown, flanked by two five-point stars / OTTO MÖNNIG / LEIPZIG / a hexagon-shaped small figure"
.
From my online research I've learnt, that in 1891 Otto Mönnig moved his workshop from Markneukirchen to Leipzig. And after 1907 he stopped using the crown in his logo.
The flute is in somewhat playable condition. But the pads are old, and some of them look as if they probably won't last much longer.
One of the previous owners had a brass adapter installed, in order to replace the broken wooden tenon (see last picture). The foot joint end ring is also missing, and there is a small chip in the wood. Apart from that, the wood is in good condition.
Postage is
.00 USD
worldwide. The flute will be dispatched as a signed-for registered letter, with a tracking number attached.
Thanks for looking - and happy bidding!
