    Description

Up for auction an antique porcelain cuckoo clock wall planter or vase.  Moriyama Pottery was located in MoriMachi in Shizuoka prefecture.  Moriyama Pottery was established in 1911 by Hidekichi Nakamura who was taught pottery making by Seison Suzuki. There are currently only four studios continuing the Moriyama tradition in and around Morimachi and they are Seison, Seizon, Nakamura and Tame.  The mark on this pocket was used circa 1913-1920.  This style of wall pockets typically came with the hanging weights, but the ones on this piece are not original to the pocket.
The pocket measures 5 3/4" high from top to bottom, 3" long from side to side, 1 1/4" thick from front to back and weighs 8.9 ounces prior to packing for shipping.  Will ship in 10x6x4 box.
This piece is in good used antique condition without cracks, chips, flakes or repairs.  As mentioned the weights are not original to the pocket.  There is some wear and rubs to the gold highlights.  There is a stray black dot in the middle of the clock, a couple of spots of discoloration from inclusions on the back and inside will need a better cleaning.  On the front left edge of the unglazed foot is a dark line in the porcelain.
Happy to combine shipping, please allow us to send a revised invoice so the postage will be correct.  Thank you for looking.
