This stone was created by "lab hydrothermal conditions".
This means that they are cultured or manmade (synthetic) Ametrine.
Ametrine mined from the earth and Ametrine made in the lab are essentially the same chemically and as far as their properties go. In nature, Ametrine is a type of quartz. In the lab, Ametrine is made much like children salt crystals.
That is, a hot solution of salt is dissolved in hot water then allowed to slowly cool.
Hot water is able to keep more salt in solution than cold The Ametrine sold on this site are listed as having "lab hydrothermal conditions" in regard to water.
As the solution cools, crystals are formed
in the shapes characteristic for salt.
In the case of am Ametrine the chemicals which form quartz are suspended in a hot solution and then cooled under high pressure.
Quartz is formed then further processed to form Ametrine.
This cultured or manmade Ametrine is for the most part identical to Ametrine found in nature except that because it is grown in the lab under controlled conditions, these stones usually have fewer imperfections
than stones found in nature.
Also, large stones can be grown for much less money. Natural stones are more valuable, and hold their value.
For example, Ametrine in sizes sold on this site can cost per carat and more, whereas i can generally obtain Ametrine for less than a dollar per carat.
